Join local painter Dawn Stubbs for a discussion of her portraiture work and to explore colour mixing associated with the art of portraiture.
Dawn will share one of her biggest breakthroughs in colour mixing, that she discovered while painting portraits. In this workshop participants will learn how to create appropriate tones to render portraiture paintings. Participants are encouraged to bring along a portrait photograph to work from.
In 2012 Dawn was the recipient of the Black Swan Portrait Prize (recently renamed The Lester Prize) with her Portrait Black and Blue (of her elderly Father in Law who was taking the blood thinning drug warfarin at the time).
Dawn Stubbs has entered four Portraits to the Archibald which were not exhibited. Although two were exhibited in Melbourne in The Hidden Faces of The Archibald. One was of now deceased Joan Kirner past Premier of Victoria titled Still Opening Doors which was purchased by Emily’s List and now hangs in Parliament House Melbourne.
Capacity: 12 (adults over 18 years only).
