There will be plenty to see and do as we open the brand new Nakunbalook Environmental and Cultural Education Centre! Plenty of community groups and authorities will be onsite to talk to people about how they champion the environment or culture in our local community, including Friends of the Sale Botanic Gardens, Sale and District Field Naturalists, Gippsland Apiarist Association, Landcare, Sale Historical Society, Parks Victoria and more.

Wellington Shire Council’s Sustainability Education Officer Sharon Ray will be on hand to provide info on how you can be sustainable in your own home. The team from Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation will display some important Indigenous artefacts and explain its joint management process of 10 of Gippsland’s parks and states. Bug Blitz’s John Caldow will lead a survey of invertebrates around the Lake Guyatt area, and introduce some incredible creatures. Stop by Gippsland Climate Change Network’s electric vehicle display, and see what the future of automobiles looks like.

Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation and Gippsland Art Gallery will host their own respective art activities across the day, while the Stratford Singers provide a lovely soundtrack for the morning. As for catering, The Bean Pedlar from Yarram will be onsite to serve some sustainable coffee – make sure you bring your own reusable coffee cup to receive a discount! Seed Community Garden will also be sizzling up snags and veggie burgers from 11am, as well as firing up the pizza oven.

There will be a worm farm giveaway (valued at $400), and plenty of prizes handed out during the day.
