Gippsland Forest Dialogue - Fire in our Forests

Join us for an engaging in-person dialogue where we talk about fire in our forests. How we use fire for ecological, cultural and community safety and how we respond to bushfires and keep communities safe.

Come along to share stories, knowledge and perspectives and talk about how we manage fire in our forests. We will explore questions such as how effective is our bushfire suppression, can we do better, what can we learn from our experiences.

We can also explore questions around the fires we light. Why we burn, what are the benefits and impacts, what can we do better. What can we learn from Traditional owners of this land and what can we learn from international practice.

Every voice matters, at our dialogues we like to provide a safe and respectful place to share, listen and learn. Experienced facilitators will lead the conversation and ensure all voices are heard.

Gippsland Forest Dialogue was formed in 2022 and has a 150 members with a diverse range of backgrounds and perspectives, from landowners, to academics, to environmentaists and people who love being in the forest. Ir welcomes anyone and values diversity.

Gippsland Forest Dialogue is not aligned to any specific view or perspective, our goal is merely to bring people together to build networks and trust. to forge relationships across groups and forge collaborations amongst those interested in the future or our forests and in this instance the role of fire. As with all our dialogues, a report recording the conversation will be produced and circulated after the event.
