G’day! I’m Ricki Wood, a Maffra-born lad who, from the age of eight, followed a dream of being a musician and never looked back. I absolutely love the craft of songwriting—not just the joy of creating something from nothing, but the way music connects us all.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to co-write with incredible artists like Shane Nicholsonand Luke O’Shea, along with many other independent singer-songwriters across Australia through both in-person and online sessions. For me, there’s nothing better than seeing a fresh idea come to life.
I’m heading to the beautiful Stratford Courthouse for a show on Sunday, 21 June, and I’m throwing down a challenge: Can we write a brand-new song from scratch in just 60 minutes before the show kicks off?
This isn't just a workshop; it’s a high-speed creative mission. We’ll have a quick chat about writing styles and ideas, then dive headfirst into the deep end to write a song together as a group. It’s fast, it’s frantic, and it’s where the real magic happens—because when the clock is ticking, you have to trust your gut!
The Details:
This session is open to anyone and everyone, but we are strictly limited to 30 spots, so get in early! Whether you’re a professional performer, a bedroom guitarist, or just someone who loves words and music, this is the perfect way to spark your creative spirit. You don't need to be an expert; you just need a bit of curiosity and a willingness to run with a wild idea.
NO INSTRUMENT REQUIRED. JUST YOUR PEN, PAPER, AND IMAGINATION.
• Entry: Free - donations are welcomed on the day if you feel you can. No pressure.
