The Gippslander Royal Train

There is nothing like stepping aboard one of our heritage trains as you set out with us to explore Victoria. Our carriages are a travelling memoir of a more elegant era - the golden age of travel, with many now over 100 years old and some having been part of iconic names such as the 'Spirit of Progress'.

Restored to their former glory, our carriages are as famous today as in the heyday of train travel. Whether you prefer spectacular sights or relaxed days exploring new destinations - as many guests do - there's a journey for everyone. Whichever you choose, we guarantee that you'll be whisked back to a more elegant era. Welcome aboard.

Join us for our inaugural Gippsland Royal Train shuttle travelling from Bairnsdale to Sale and return.

Take the time to explore the train, including the lovely Yarra Car and State Car 4. Both carriages have end platforms. There are no set seats - enabling you to move around the train and explore the different carriages

We have 2 options running through the day -

• For people boarding at Bairnsdale - 2 shuttles departing Bairnsdale at 09.05am and 2.15pm.
• There is an option to spend the day in Sale - travel on the first shuttle from Bairnsdale (9.05am) and return on the last shuttle from Sale departing 5.05pm.
• For people boarding at Sale - 1 shuttle departing Sale Railway Station at 11.50 and arrive back in Sale 3.20pm

For people travelling on the Bairnsdale-Sale return shuttle - we will have small bus available to assist people to travel into the shopping area of Sale.
