CFA is a volunteer-based organisation that works to protect the lives and properties of millions of Victorians. We have 54,000 members working in over 1,200 brigades across Victoria, ranging from small rural towns to outer metropolitan suburbs. Callouts at brigades can vary between one and 1000 each year.
CFA is a Trusted Authority because they have the community reach, the local knowledge and the skills to best prepare our communities for fire and respond in force when they are needed.
The Sale Fire Brigade was formed in December of 1882 and was the second brigade to be established in the Gippsland Area, after Bairnsdale in 1879. It would be a further 10 years until the establishment of the Country Fire Brigades Board in 1890.
For over 130 years the Sale Fire Brigade has served the Sale community with bravery and distinction, fighting major blazes within Sale, and sending crews and equipment to other areas of Victoria, and even interstate to fight major fires.
Sale Fire Brigade is a 100% volunteer organisation, and our members are proud to serve their community 24 hrs a day , 7 days a week , 365 days per year.
