Kilmany Resource Recovery Centre

The Kilmany Resource Recovery Centre, located on Velore Road in Kilmany, is the primary, large-scale waste management and recycling hub for the Wellington Shire Council. As the region’s central facility, it handles a far more extensive range of materials than smaller local transfer stations. It accepts standard domestic landfill refuse, green waste, and recyclable materials, while also providing specialized disposal services for difficult items such as e-waste, tyres, mattresses, and concrete.

Notably, Kilmany is the only facility within the municipality equipped to accept hazardous materials like asbestos and large-scale commercial, industrial, building, and demolition waste. Reflecting its status as the shire's main service hub, the site features complete payment infrastructure that accommodates both cash and card/EFTPOS transactions.

Unlike the region's smaller, part-time transfer stations, the Kilmany facility operates on an extensive seven-day schedule to serve the broader public and commercial contractors. The centre is open weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:45 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 am to 4:45 pm.
