Driving around Sale means you truly are in The Middle of Everywhere. Our app will be pinging off regularly, and you’ll find it hard not to miss the Water Towers in Victoria Park.

In the early days, Sale relied on an unreliable Artesian (underground) supply. The solution came with the conception and construction of the beautiful brick tower near the corner of Marley and Cunningham Streets.

Designed and built by John Granger in 1888, for 82 years it supplied clean water to the residents of Sale, and even its swimming pool, which was at the base of the tower. The tower ceased operations with the construction of two subsequent concrete towers, and until the early 1970s was used as a Sale Council Parks and Gardens depot.

Restoration of the tower commenced in 2016 and its fascinating displays and incredible views over Sale are now open to the public every Saturday from 2–4pm. Entry is by a gold coin donation and there is a free audio guide available from the website www.salewatertower.com.au
