GVC - 20th Century Sports Cars Display

Warm summer nights, moonlight over your shoulder, long winding roads with the sea air beckoning you and that special person to the beach – these are the joys of an open-topped roadster.

Our road trip starts with veteran sports cars known as speedsters. These exquisite vehicles show that only the bravest motorists could enjoy the speed and excitement these early cars offered.

We are proud to display an incredible collection of nine vintage MG sports cars, some unique to Australia. It is the first time all nine have been exhibited together.

Not to be outdone, we also have a 1923 Marmon 34B Speedster. This model epitomised the Roaring Twenties' fascination with speed and style, capturing an era when automobiles symbolized status and motion.

Zooming into the 1960s, we are surrounded by more British icons, starting with a Sunbeam Tiger of ‘Get Smart’ fame. These cars were catapulted to fame by Agent 86, Maxwell Smart, in this popular American TV show.

Not all sports cars were roadsters, so you will also see other sports cars such as the Bolwell, Ford Capri Convertible, Mazda MX-5, and many more.

Our display starts in the middle of winter. But roadsters are fair-weather friends, so join us for a taste of summer: warm nights, long roads, love in the air, and the unmistakable look of open-air motoring.
