Located at 72 Lind Avenue in the isolated, mountain-ringed township of Dargo, the Dargo Bush Nursing Centre serves as an indispensable healthcare lifeline for both its tight-knit permanent population of roughly 100 residents and the thousands of seasonal campers and hikers who venture into the high country.

As a community-governed, non-profit organization managed by a voluntary committee, the centre provides highly localized, holistic primary healthcare that bridges the gap between this remote pocket and major regional networks like the Bairnsdale Regional Health Service. Because Dargo sits over an hour away from standard emergency transport, the centre's small staff of specialized Remote Area Nurses (RANs) are annually reaccredited by Ambulance Victoria to act as vital 000 first responders.

Beyond providing urgent and acute emergency care, the centre coordinates crucial community-wide wellness programs, including vaccination clinics, home care packages for the elderly, dental and optical pop-ups, and mental health support. To combat the challenges of geographical isolation, the facility has also embraced cutting-edge telemedicine—piloting advanced mixed-reality HoloLens and satellite technologies that allow urban medical specialists to virtually see and annotate treatments in real-time, safely anchoring the town’s clinical capabilities directly into the broader Victorian health system.
