  • Quiet Space: Quiet Space

The Friends of Tarra-Bulga National Park Inc. formed in 1994 in response to a specific but very important concern. During 1993 and 1994 many park visitors found to their dismay that the newly built Visitor Centre was often closed on weekends. “The Friends” were formed to ensure that the Centre was open during peak visitor periods.

Twenty years later, staffing and maintaining the Visitor Centre is still one of the group’s main activities, but we also do plenty more including:

  • Fauna and flora monitoring e.g. Lyrebird Surveys.
  • Working Bees to plant trees or remove weeds.
  • Guided walks.
  • Guest speakers.

Everybody knows that Tarra-Bulga National Park is a great place to visit. Even greater benefits can be achieved by becoming more deeply involved with this fantastic place. We have several ways volunteers with different interests can gain by getting involved.

  • Do you enjoy meeting visitors from overseas and interstate and helping others?
  • Have time to spare on weekends and school holidays (Approx. 1 day per month).
  • Have your own transport to get to Balook.
  • Think that Tarra-Bulga National Park is a pretty unique and special place.
  • Occasionally like some quiet time for yourself.

Then becoming a Visitors Centre volunteer could be great for you.
