Loch Sport Transfer Station - 22 Progress Rd, Loch Sport VIC 3851, Australia

The Loch Sport Transfer Station, operated by the Wellington Shire Council, provides a key waste management and resource recovery service for the coastal community of Loch Sport. Located on Progress Road, the facility assists residents and property owners with responsible waste disposal, accepting standard domestic landfill refuse, recyclables, and green waste. To ensure the site is used for standard residential needs, a capacity restriction limits loads to a maximum of two cubic metres; larger quantities must be taken to the region's main hub at the Kilmany Resource Recovery Centre. For user convenience, the facility is equipped with modern payment infrastructure, accepting both card/EFTPOS and cash transactions.
The station operates on a part-time schedule tailored to the town's seasonal and weekly needs, opening on Mondays from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Because Loch Sport is positioned in a highly fire-prone coastal pocket between Lake Wellington and the Ninety Mile Beach, the transfer station plays a vital role in local bushfire preparation; council regularly extends its opening hours and runs an elongated, no-fee residential green waste disposal program here leading into the summer period. In alignment with shire safety protocols, the facility closes entirely on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and Good Friday, as well as on any days declared as Catastrophic or Extreme Fire Danger. Additionally, it will shut down immediately if a VicEmergency "Watch and Act" or "Emergency" warning is issued for the area.
