Rosedale Racecourse Reserve

Located just on the edge of the historic township of Rosedale, the Rosedale Racecourse Reserve (situated at 10 Evergreen Road) is a multi-use community hub steeped in local history.

Originally established in the late 19th century, the reserve has pivoted beautifully from its thoroughbred horse racing origins to become an active precinct for sports, recreation, and local club gatherings.

Thoroughbred horse racing kicked off in Rosedale as early as 1868, with the official Rosedale Racing Club conducting meetings on the grounds for nearly a century until 1969.

The track famously played a part in Australian racing history: Patrobas, the legendary three-year-old who went on to win the 1915 Caulfield Guineas, Victoria Derby, and the Melbourne Cup, actually secured a second-place finish in his very first race right here at Rosedale.

Following the closure of the racing track, the reserve was thoughtfully repurposed to serve the community in new ways. Today, it plays host to several dynamic local facilities:

• Rosedale & District Adult Horse Riding Club.

Visitor Info: Tucked away quietly off the main highway, the reserve offers a beautiful, open green space managed by local committees under the Wellington Shire Council.
